A native of Millbrae, Joseph Edward Scheid was a member of Alpha Delta Gamma, the Block Club and on the staff of the Foghorn. He graduated in 1966 in Political Science. He was named to Who's Who among Students in American Colleges.

Seeing that this is our last issue, we have decided to give various awards. Coach Peter P. Peletta receives the Humility Award; Joe E. Scheid wins our coveted "Most Undue Praise Given Award," Joe Strickler wins our "Most Improved Athlete" Award; and we ourselves are recipients of the Rash Judgment Award, accompanied by a seven foot solid gold trophy with jade figures of Benedict Arnold and Judas Iscariot shaking hands on top of it (TheFoghorn).

All conversation these last weeks has been focused around the upcoming tournament at Provo, and rightly so. But there Is another tournament in the making which involves the actual participation of our students. It is the Intramural Round Robin Basketball Tourney. The play of these individuals, although not of varsity caliber, shows a tremendous amount of coordination and basketball know-how. Watch wheeling dealing center Hank Berry and cocky play-making guard Joe E. Scheid perform next week. Scheid spearheaded last year's squad, and will try again this year to get his team going for an unprecedented consecutive Intramural Championship. The Sporting Greene will stick its neck out once again and go with the "Soft-Offs" to repeat their championship (TheFoghorn).

This year, the USF Frosh baseball team should prove to be one of the finest that the school has ever produced. It is a well-balanced squad under the able direction of Head Coach Phil Vukicevich. There are many former high school stars on the team, including two who were chosen on the All-Northern California squad last year. The two are Ray Gale and Mike Green.

Gale is a shortstop from Palo Alto and should go on to become one of the finest glovemen USF has ever produced. Mike Green is a pitcher who has already shown unusual maturity on the mound, as well as at the plate.

Frank Burch is another pitcher that USF can look forward to seeing in a varsity uniform for the next three years. Frank has fine poise and speed capable of overpowering almost any batter. Frank Ubhaus, Jim Beasley, Les Franco, and Pat Galloway are just a few of the remaining players on the team who should see a lot of varsity action in the future.

For the first time in recent years, the baseball outlook on the Hilltop is bright. With this team, it appears that USF has insured itself a powerful position in Bay Area baseball circles for next few years (TheDon).
