Larry Lawson, Jr. was then called to replace Supple on the mound. If it had not been for a handful of errors, Larry "Buzz" Lawson would have come out of the inning unscathed. However, as it was, they touched him for two runs. It was in the seventh inning when Dave Sheldon stepped up to replace Lawson. He pitched solidly for three innings giving up only two runs.

On Tuesday afternoon, USF completed their pre-conference schedule by defeating Stanislaus State 7-4 behind the pitching of Jim O Shea, Joe Morello, George Kanto, Larry Lawson, and Duffy Aceret. George Kanto recorded the win to improve his record to 3-2 with a 2.57 ERA (TheFoghorn).
