Rich Kuhta played three seasons of baseball and two seasons of basketball for the Dons.

The Hilltoppers were behind five to nothing going into the bottom of the third, but picked up two runs behind Burch's double and Kuhta's single. Pindroh drove in Kuhta with a single and the Dons were only behind by two. The fifth was the big one as the Dons got three runs on four hits to tie the game. The sixth inning was the winner as the Green and Golds got two runs. Kuhta and Ed Subica hit back to back triples and Nick Willard drove in Subica with a single. The Dons added an insurance run in the seventh when Rich Reitz doubled and came home after a hit by Dave Gonsalves. Coach McGlynn's defense was a standout also as they played nine innings of errorless ball. The Broncos were all thumbs and the Dons capitalized on their five errors. Kuhta hit 3 for 5 and Pindroh 3-4.

Head Coach George McGlynn will have a good nucleus of ballplayers returning to don the Green and Gold uniforms. Leading Don hitters Bob Pindroh and Rick Kuhta, along with Nick Willard, Skip Schaeffer, Rick Reitz, Gene Cervantes and Joe Gill, and a competent pitching staff, should provide USF with another strong team.

The USF baseball team took a well deserved win against the Santa Clara Broncos last Wednesday, 8-5. Behind the pitching of Frank Burch and hitting of Rick Kuhta and Bob Pindroh, the Dons hacked out 14 hits and came from behind to take the game.

The USF Freshman baseball squad began its league schedule last Thursday with a 13-1 victory over the San Francisco State Frosh. Roger Strack, showing a lot of control picked up the victory. Bob Pindroh led the club offensively with three hits in four trips. Tom Hanson played a fine game at shortstop for the Dons. Last Tuesday the squad hosted San Jose State in a double-header. Steve Brackow won the first game 7-3 behind a balanced 14 hit attack. Nick Willard came through with a clutch bases loaded double to provide the winning runs. Rober Strack, with good hitting support from Rick Kuhta and Joe McNeil, won the second game with a four hit performance. Lon Gallagher and Dan Quinn also played good ball. The final tally was 4-2 (TheFoghorn).

1964-1965 Basketball team: Russ Gumina, Charlie James, Erwin Mueller, C. Fortenberry, Joe Ellis, Don Snider, Thom Brown, Dennis Black, Art Wilmore, Marc Jamison, Larry Blum, Rick Kuhta, and Tom O'Neill.

Rick Kuhta has only one disadvantage and that is height. Standing only 5' 10" he makes up for it with his fine court play making. A good ball handler and hustler, Rick could develop into a star floor general for the coming years. His play on the frosh team was impressive and he was a good clutch player. Rick's potential is still unveiled, and with the size of the teams that the vanity will play he may get to see a lot of early action (TheFoghorn).
