A native of San Francisco, Tom Walsh was a member of the Sanctuary Society, Clanna Eireann and on the Foghorn staff. He graduated in 1954 in English.

With his hard line bucks through the Berchman line, Tom Walsh led the winless Ignatians to a 16-6 victory last Friday in the 1952 Intamural Don Bowl. The 185-pound halfback from Sacred Heart High School scored one touchdown and was a consistent ground-gainer from scrimmage. A hard, power runner, Walsh joined with Dale Bonnett in ripping the Berchman line for large gains. A hard, bruising runner, Walsh led the Ignatians in their uphill fight from the bottom to the top of the Intramural League. Playing sixty-minute hall every game, Walsh was the nucleus of the Ignatian offensive drive.

An experienced veteran gridder, Walsh's experience include prep football, frosh and varsity football at USF.  Tom Walsh was chosen as the fifth man in the All-Star backfield.

"Track at USF is definitely on the upswing," grinned gray-thatched Zanazzi. "Never before have so many SI boys, including good trackmen, gone to USF. This is definitely for the better." To the present frosh squad, whose quality the Coach labels "Good, bad, and indifferent," St. Ignatius has contributed the likes of Dick Bonomi, sprinter; George Daskarolis, sprinter; John Cavanagh, sprinter; Joe Brady, 440; Dick Wallsten, 440; Ray Fazzio, hurdler; Jim Ruane, hurdler; Paul Kujawa, shot and discus; Herb Haskins, pole vaulter; Bill Furraro, pole vaulter; Captain Bob Cantwell, miler; Jerry Wall, high jumper; Tony Mayta, discus; and Larry McCarthy, 440.
