According to Head Coach Ken Bowman, his team's impressive hitting performance had much to do with the victory. He feels that it was "the team's best complete offensive effort, with the hitting coming at the right time."

He seemed particularly impressed with the performances of first and second hitter Rich Herbert and Angelo Martin who scored five out of the fourteen runs. In total there were nineteen hits made throughout the day, which is an impressively high number for any team. This is made even more impressive by the fact that the team's best hitter, Dave Sheldon, has not started hitting yet, and Bowman can't wait until he does (USFFoghorn).
