The dedication of the team has to be admired in addition. With a good part of the season played over intersession, the players had to find new ways to afford playing intercollegiate basketball with school not in session, and the newly organized women's athletic department grossly under-budgeted. But nine uncomplaining athletes still managed with Coach Walt Bugler to stay together and represent USF. Freshman standout Sue Enos leads the Dons attack as leading scorer and controlling the middle of the USF front line. Captain Kelly Friel and Fran Englese, perhaps the key to Dons success, combine with Enos to muscle the boards.
Guard-forward Celine Watters led all scorers with 17 points on eight field goals and a free throw. Forward Fran Englese pitched in 15 more and freshman center Sue Enos added 13, 10 of these in the first half (TheFoghorn).
