Organization of a junior varsity has been completed, and a schedule with nearby opponents is rapidly being drawn up. Games with California, Stanford, and possibly St. Mary's and Santa Clara have been slated, along with games with local service squads and outstanding high school nines. As the team shapes up, Hank Pengel and Dick Kelley loom as leading contenders for third base, with Bill Shannahan, Don Gordon, and Bob Jones possibly rounding out the infield. Bob Morelli, Bill Reed, and Bob Barbeau appear to have the best chance for the outfield berths on the starting nine.

In the eighth, the Dons came into their own, blasting out five runs on six hits. Bob Jones finally clearing the bases on a booming triple. Bill Reed led the hitters with 3 for 4, and Jack Grealish garnered two hits. Al Mazzio showed up well at third base filling in for the injured Bill Stranahan. On Tuesday afternoon the JVs gained a five to four victory over the SFJC Rams. All four of the Rams runs were unearned. Three were off Al Streuli and one was off Frenchy La Bourdette. La Bourdette pitched the last three innings, allowing only one hit, and receiving credit for the victory. Thc Dons scored 1 run in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th, and the remaining 3 in the lucky 7th inning. Lefty Curtain, Dons mound ace, was shifted to the outfield where he played stellar ball, and hit 3 for a 4 to lead the men of the Hilltop. Bill Reed also removed his catchers mask and performed steadily in the outer gardens (TheFoghorn).
