Newcomer Jon French, a highly sought after sophomore from Modesto Junior College, looks to be the stopper out of the pen this year. "I expect a lot of role playing in the pitching staff this year," says Bowman. "Players like junior Ron Perkins and senior Mike Terry could be the kind of players to go in and pitch to just one or two batters. This is what I mean by role playing."
The Broncos defeated the Dons Sunday 9-3 despite home runs by senior Brian Dakin and junior college transfer John Zackos. Senior John Homitz took the loss for San Francisco. San Francisco was swept in Monday's double-header 6-3 and 5- 3. Junior Derek Dowd lost for the fifth time, without a victory in the first game while junior college transfer Mike Terry suffered the loss in the second game despite pitching well for 6 1/3 innings (TheFoghorn).
