The students in the ROTC comprising the rifle team are: Frank Allen, Vic Campilongo, Jim DeMartini, Lee Eckert, John O'Brien, J. Mansinnie, Russell Moon, J. Hoffmeir, Bert Quinn, Mitchel, Bob Jones, Tom Ryan, and Love.
The catching situation is good, with Dick Morris and Vic Campilongo offering two excellent back stoppers. At short is a hard hitting righthander, Bob O'Malley, with Bob Jones a cinch to break into the lineup somewhere. First base is overpopulated with Chism, Loftus and Fred Shew holding the inside track. Of outfielders there are plenty, but Callahan, Manko, and Desmond are hard hitting outfielders who can field also. Coach Newell is well satisfied with the team, and he says, "If the hitting improves and the pitching comes through, we should have a good year." At any rate, the turnout clearly indicates a real interest in baseball on the Hilltop, and with such spirit a good team will bo assured (TheFoghorn).
