The USF baseball frosh are finally showing the potential promise they displayed in their earlier contests. They have played two games since we last went to press and they were overwhelming victors in both. On the high school Senior Day they put on an exhibition game with Poly High of San Francisco. Don Rebholtz, the pitcher, displayed quite a bit of wildness, but the superb fielding of the Don team pulled him out of the early distress. In the first inning the Donlets pushed across three runs on a walk to Stan Speizer, singles by Len Heinz, Keith Salsbury, and a perfect bunt by Jim "Punch" Olson. The Poly gang were unable to bunch their base hits, and thus found themselves on the short end of a 7 to 1 score. The men who looked very good for the Dons were Olson, Speizer, and Salsbury.

The USF Frosh baseball squad suffered a loss this week but not to another team. The Head Coach of the varsity football team issued the order that all men out for spring practice in football, will not participate in any other sports at this time. This has come as quite a shock to Coach Joe Mocha. A large number of his good boys will leave the bats and balls, and don the football pads. The most serious losses will be chucker Rudy Garcia, second sacker Keith Salsbury, and relief hurler Don Jarvis. The squad played two contests last week and earned a split for themselves. On last Wednesday the Donlets engaged the California Frosh. They were very much in the game until the final innings when a few costly miscues cost them the contest with the score ending 6 to 4. Jarvis was given the loss. In their second game of the week, the Dons defeated a stubborn Ram team from the City College of San Francisco. Rudy Garcia, who was last week's star, again came through with a brilliant pitching exhibition. Backed by the timely hitting of center fielder Bob Castagnetto, and left fielder Jim Olson, the Dons eased by the Rams nine by the score of 3 to 2. Castagnetto is hitting at a .495 clip, having banged out 14 safeties in 29 trips (TheFoghorn).
