Head Coach John "Dutch" Anderson yesterday announced a 32-game baseball schedule, eighteen of which are home games, as practice for the spring sport kicked off. Baseball practice officially opened a week ago, but workouts didn't get under way until the first sun shone last Wednesday. Back in the fold this year are Chick Wallgreen, the top hitter hereabouts with .415, part-time pitcher and outfield star Fred Kara with .279, and Tony Basques, with .198, another pitcher who doubles at third base. Other returnees are Charley Myers, .317, John O'Neil, and John Cunningham, .309, a first baseman who has a stretch with the basketball team to complete. Along with the vets come some mighty good junior college transfers in outfielders Bernie Vend and Walt Chapman, and pitcher Ron Jourdanis. All three hail from Modesto (TheFoghorn).
