Paul William, Jr. Willard

  • Class
    1964
  • Honors
    Baseball (1961-1962), Men's Basketball (1961-1963)
A native of Ogden, UT, Willard graduated in History in 1964. He played both basketball and baseball for the Dons.

The USF JV Basketball team heads into its last leg of the season tonight against the Presidio at 8:00. The JVs are currently 9-4, having beaten the Cal Blues, San Jose City College, and the USF Freshmen to name a few. They have lost to the Presidio, the Cal Blues, Hamilton AFB, and the USF Frosh in their second encounter. The leader of the club and the acknowledged hustler is Paul Willard, a guard, although not scoring too many points, is a scrapper, and puts out for the team all the time.

That time of the year is here again. Nostalgic Dons gaze out windows and dream of forthcoming vacations. The San Francisco Giants will attempt to be one of two teams opposing each other come October—Candlestick or not! And the University of San Francisco horsehiders will sport a few surprises of their own. With the season just a few season weeks old, George McGlynn's nine are unwinding and preparing for the task ahead. Thus far the team holds a 2-5 record with many of the losses decided by a run or two. With a 23-game slate yet to play, the situation could very well change for the better, as the starting line-up would seem to indicate. Now that the basketball season has drawn to a close, several basket dunkers have turned horsehide-tossers. Joining the pitching staff is center Dave Lee. A catcher on last year's varsity is junior Bob Joyce. Also trying out as Paul Willard, sophomore outfielder, and Dick Piantadosi, sophomore first-baseman. With the bulk of the team as sophomores and juniors, head mentor McGlynn has excellent building prospects (TheFoghorn).
