Strong pitching will be complemented by young and inexperienced, yet competent defense. Senior Danny Collins, out of Ml San Jacinto JC, will probably get the nod in left field. The speedy contact hitter who lead California JC in triples last year, showed signs of improved power in the preseason. Junior Sam Taylor seems to be the logical starter in center with his speed and defense. Joining them in right will either be Martin or transfer from Skyline JC, Rodney Taylor. Taylor is an impressive athlete who can play any of the outfield positions and has the inside track for the lead-off spot. Taylor, along with sophomore switch hitter Bryan McCaffery strengthen the outfield and make it quite versatile.

USF tallied their lone run in the seventh inning. Sam Taylor doubled to left and was hit in on Bulanti grounder to short. Lion short stop Ciccarella booted the ball, allowing Taylor to score for the Dons only run. Travis Walters took the loss for the USF (TheFoghorn).
