In the second UCLA battle, the Hilltoppers exploded in the first inning, chasing across four markers by bashing the offerings of Warren Hart. The Bruin hurler then settled down, and yielded only three scratch singles the rest of the way. UCLA's Jim Groh belted a two- run homer in the last of the first. Losing pitcher was Bob Thollander. USF, with catcher Tim Riordan the hitting hero, dropped the Southern California Trojans, 4-2. Riordan's triple brought in two tallies in the fourth. He also scored one run on an error.

The boys who will be handling the hot stuff that the hurlers toss in, will be Tim Riordan, "Ace" Adams, and Dan Moriarty. All three men do very well in the position and provide a definite strong point on the club. There are nine men turning out for the outfield, and positions as yet, with a few exceptions, are still undecided. "Fats" Johnston will move in at left field. He is a tremendous long ball hitter and will be the mainstay in the batting order (TheFoghorn).
