The Dons have more stars. Back are midfielders Thierry Blanson and Rogert Magalhaes, who are both coming off their most productive years at USF, steady Martin Ivarson, who anchored the defense last year after Nielsen went down with an injury, and JanHelge Schiefloe, who played up to three positions last year, signal that the Dons defense will be star-studded.
The Dons went on to win the Classic the next day with a tie against host U.S. International. As for the other games the Dons have played recently, they beat Stanford 3-1 on a pair of goals by Kit Halverson and an insurance goal from "Daiquari" Don Murphy. In another Pacific Soccer Conference game, the Dons mauled San Jose State 5-0 on goals by Murphy, Boardman, Halverson, Tor Sveen, and Jan Helge Schiefloe (TheFoghorn).
