MISCELLANEOUS: Will wear No. 20 this season to pay tribute to his late father, former USF All-American and NBA veteran Phil Smith... will be the first player to wear a retired number.

AT USF 2008-2009: (4.6 PPG, 0.8 RPG, 1.2 APG, 0.2 SPG): Made some big contributions for the Dons during West Coast Conference play... made a big splash with a career-high 21-point outburst in a 70-62 road victory at Pepperdine (2/28/09)... converted on four 3-pointers and went 9-for-10 at the free throw line against the Waves... scored 13 points on 5-for-8 from the field at Portland (1/15/09)... made first career start at Gonzaga (1/17/09), scoring six points with a pair of assists in 32 minutes... dished out a career-high five assists against Pepperdine (1/29/09)... ranked ninth among West Coast Conference leaders in 3-pointers during league contests with 15 in 10 games... captured Phil Smith Most Improved Player and the Art Zief Jr. Most Inspirational Player awards.

PREP CAREER: Highly decorated prep player at Escondido High School...two-time All-North County First Team and All-Valley League First Team selection... captured All-CIF honors following junior campaign after averaging 18.9 points, 4.1 assists and 3.4 rebounds for the Cougars... lifted Escondido to the 2007 San Diego CIF Division I title game... Cougars captured back-to-back Valley League Championships in 2007-08... enjoyed prolific final season, averaging 30.1 points, 5.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game... named MVP of the 2008 North vs. South San Diego All-Star Game, finishing with 25 points... also competed on the Escondido Track & Field team as a junior in the long jump, high jump and the 200M... an exceptional student, completed high school career with a 4.40 GPA and was No. 6 in graduating class... named Team Captain of the San Diego Union-Tribune All-Academic Team... one of 10 "Student of Merit", as selected by the North County Times.

PERSONAL: Youngest son of the late former USF All-American and NBA All-Star Phil Smith... Peter is a Business major.
