2008 SEASON:
Started 22 of 29 games played as a junior before suffering a season ending injury on April 8 at San Jose State... batted .299 with three doubles, one triple, and one home run... went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI at Hawai'I(2/24)... finished the day 2-for-4 with two RBI and a home run at Sacramento State (2/26)... in the second game of a double-header against Fairleigh Dickinson, had a triple and an RBI (3/22)... went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and a double at Saint Mary's(3/29)... had a double and a run scored vs. Loyola Marymount on April 6... had a seven game hitting streak (3/20-3/30) in which he batted .357.

AT EL CAMINO JC (2006-07): Played two years of baseball

PREP CAREER: Played four years of baseball at El Segundo High School... as a senior batted .381 with six home runs and 12 doubles... earned First Team All-League and MVP honors.

PERSONAL: Born on February 12, 1986 in Chino, CA... son of Don and Bonnie Braunecker... nickname is Bub... father played basketball at Pepperdine and professional Volleyball... goal for the season is to perform to the best of his abilities... chose USF because the first time he visited it felt like a close family... thinks the best thing about being a student-athlete is challenging yourself... lists volleyball as a hobby... likes the fog in San Francisco... would like to be Barry Bonds for a day...best advice he could give to youngsters is to do what you love, it will always make you happy... favorite sports hero is his father...favorite movie is Braveheart... favorite food is steak... majoring in Sociology.

GIARRATANO ON BRAUNECKER: "Dane in my opinion is one of the best third basemen in all of the country. He has great range, can catch and throw. Offensively, he does so many unselfish things that don't show up in the box score. He will be the difference maker in our wins and losses this year."
