SAN FRANCISCO — Garcia has done it all this season for the University of San Francisco volleyball team, proving to be a leader on and off the court for the Dons in her first year with the program – already one of the most successful on the The Hilltop in recent years.

In this week's spotlight on Kathya, featured in the latest episode of USF's cable television show "Behind the Mask," she talks about growing up in Mexico and the influence her family had in growing her volleyball career. She also talks about representing her country of Mexico playing for the Mexican National volleyball team, gaining valuable experience and skill that she has brought to War Memorial at Sobrato Center this fall.

In 2018, Garcia has been an all-around all-star for the Dons. She is the team's best attacker (team-best 2.95 kills per set), one of the best defenders (169 digs, 3.07 per set, 2nd on team), and one of the Dons' best servers as well (16 aces, 2nd-best 0.29 per set on the team). She recently missed six matches, but returned to the court Thursday night versus Saint Mary's for the first time in three weeks and made an immediate impact, nearly notching a double-double with eight kills and 10 digs.
