At Sonoma State 2006-2007:  Had a tremendous first season in a Seawolf uniform that was highlighted by First Team All-CCAA honors...led the team in scoring, rebounding, and assists...ranked 9th in the CCAA in scoring and 5th in assists...her 367 points were the fourth-highest total by an SSU junior in school history...scored 31 points in a win over Cal State Stanislaus (3/1/07)...the 31 points were the fifth-highest single-game total in school history...grabbed a season-high 14 rebounds in a win over Cal State L.A. (2/22/07)...posted a double-double (23 points, 11 rebounds) in season opener against Regis (11/17/06)...started 25 of the team’s 27 games...had double-digits in rebounding on three occasions...was a double-digit scorer 19 times.

HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE: Returned to Sonoma County after playing her sophomore season at Division I University of San Francisco...a 2003 graduate of Sonoma Valley High School...attended Santa Rosa Junior College for one year, leading the Bear Cubs to an undefeated league championship and No. 2 State ranking...named Bay Valley Conference Player of the Year in 2005...earned First Team All-State honors at SRJC in 2005 as well...transferred to USF for the 2005-2006 season and averaged seven points per game ...shot .738 from the charity stripe with the Dons last season...fourth on the team in scoring (SonomaStateAthletics).

GENERAL CAPSULE: Very aggressive player on both ends of the floor.... outstanding work ethic... great nose for the ball. 

AT SANTA ROSA JC (2004-2005): Enjoyed outstanding freshman season at Santa Rosa... earned First Team All-State honors... also named Bay Conference MVP... played for current USF Assistant Coach Molly Goodenbour... Dean's List student. 

PREP CAREER: Versatile two-sport athlete at Sonoma Valley High School... earned four varsity letters in basketball, averaging 15.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game... two-time Sonoma County League First Team selection following junior and senior campaigns... also played four years of soccer, earning MVP and Offensive MVP honors as a senior... First Team All-League and All-Empire in 2003... honor roll student.

PERSONAL: Danae Nicole Wellander... goal for the season is help the Dons win the West Coast Conference title and excel in the playoffs... chose USF for the small size and the great atmosphere... best advice is to give everything you have in everything you do... would like to attend Olympic Figure Skating...favorite movie is The Notebook; favorite food is Mexican... sports hero is Joe Montana... enjoys sports, listening to country music and spending time with family and friends in her free time...parents are Ron and Luanne Wellander... born July 22, 1985 in San Francisco. 

STRAIGHT FROM THE COACHING STAFF: "Danae is one of our hardest workers. She is a workhorse. Danae is going to help make our team better this season. She will play at the small and big forward positions for us. Her strengths are driving to the basket and finishing. We are very happy that Danae is at USF (USFAthletics)."
