Alyssa Michelle Nakken was born on June 13, 1990 Woodland, CA and graduated from Woodland High School where she played softball, baseball and volleyball. She attended Cal State University at Sacramento where she played softball. She had a .304 batting average and was a three time All-Conference selection three times and a Scholar-Athleete in 2012. She graduated with a Bachelors in Psychology. 

Nakken joined the San Francisco Giants in the Operations Department as an intern in 2014. She worked for the team on health and wellness programs. In 2015, she earned a Masters in Sports Management from the USF where she also worked as the Chief Information Officer for the team. The Giants promoted her to the major league coaching staff as an Assistant Coach in January 2020, making her the first full-time female coach in MLB history. Later she coached for the Oakland Athletics, and the Cleveland Guardians and is currently their Assistant Director for Player Development.
