GENERAL CAPSULE - Won a lot of games in junior college... hard worker with steady arm... 79-83 mph with good change up... good mind for how to pitch... should give Dons solid innings in the middle...may push as mid-week starter.

AT USF (2003): Appeared in 16 games with five starts in his first year on the Hilltop... best start against San Diego (3/16), allowing three runs off four hits with four strikeouts in 5.2innings of work... recorded season-high five K's at Portland(3/30).

AT DANVILLE CC - Earned All-Academic, second team honors as a freshman; All-Academic, First Team honors his sophomore year...recorded a 3.24 ERA with a 14-4 record... named Freshman of the Year in conference and made Second Team, All-Conference.

PREP CAREER - Four-year player at Lafayette HS... named to the All-Conference Second Team his senior year for the Lancers... also played basketball.

PERSONAL - Brian William Borgmann... chose USF for the coaching staff... his goal for the season is to never take one pitch off...best advice he's ever been given is "Don't let anyone tell you you can't accomplish what you want to"... would like to trade places for a day with Tom Glavine... favorite movie is Gladiator... if he could attend any sporting event it would be a Cardinals victory over the Yankees in Game 7 of the World Series... Mark McGwire is his sports hero... parents are Bill and Linda Borgmann... born March 8, 1982 in St. Louis, MO.

GIARRATANO ON BORGMANN - "To have Brian's quality of pitching mid-week, left-handed, will be the big difference in helping us win those 36 games we need to get into a regional."
