Andrew Cota was a native of Santa Clara, CA and attended Bellarmine Preparatory High School in San Jose. At 5' 6", 135 lbs, his senior year, he was named the West Catholic Athletic League Offensive Player of the Year and was named as the Cal-Hi Sports Central Coast Soccer Player of the Year. He attended De Anza College for one year prior to USF. Cota received First Team All-Coast Conference honors his year with the Dons. The following year, he transferred to Menlo College. 

The men's soccer coach Mike Keller said about Cota, "We are excited to have Andrew joining us for the next two seasons. He will bring a wealth of experience and we expect him to have big contributions on and off the field, especially on the attack side of the ball." Cota said, "I'm excited and can't wait to join the program (CalPacAthletics)."

2012 at Menlo College: Appeared in 20 matches as a junior transfer...started 17 matches...lead team with 19 goals and 42 points...recorded four assists...94 shots, 62 on goal...named to the California Pacific Conference’s First Team All-Conference list...was selected as Cal Pac Player of the Year...NAIA Honorable Mention All-American.
