Stockton, CA. - The No. 66 Pacific women's tennis team got back on track with a 5-2 win over the visiting USF Dons on Sunday, February 13. With the win the Tigers improved to 5-1 in dual match play.
Despite being forced indoors due to rain in the middle of singles action, the Tigers were able to hold on to the match momentum to capture their fifth victory of the season. Pacific took the doubles point to open the match with wins in both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
In singles action, Pacific claimed four points, taking No. 2 through No. 5 singles. Freshman Anja Herrmann (Erfurt, Germany) sealed the match for the Tigers, winning the fourth point with a 7-6(5), 6-2 win over Pichaya Laosirichon at No. 5 singles. Junior Natalia Kostenko (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) remained a perfect 6-0 on the season, cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Emma Taylor to capture the opening singles point for Pacific. Keeping pace, freshman Katharina Trumpf (Offenau, Germany) also moved to 6-0 on the season with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Megan Tiegs as No. 4 singles.
The Tigers will next be in action on Friday, February 18, as they play host to UC Riverside in their first Big West Conference match of 2005 (UnivofPacificAthletics).
