General Capsule - Coming off red shirt year...spring season play helped with confidence and learning the system... exceptionally strong athlete. 

2004 Season- Red shirt year. 

Prep/Club Career -Three sport, four-year letter-winner at Kamehameha High School...earned All-ILH Honorable Mention selection as a junior and captured Second Team honors as a senior... was twice named Outstanding Paddler of the Year, powering two State Championship crews...excellent track athlete, competed in the 100, 200, 4x100 relay and the long jump... Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a senior.

Personal - Shantell Makanaonalani Recca... goal for the season is to learn the system and be as big an asset as possible... chose USF for the dynamic campus and the academic programs... favorite quote is by her dad, "Pick a reputation, then live up to it"... enjoys weight lifting and surfing in her free time... parents are Sonny and Pomai Recca... born April 26, 1986 in Honolulu. 

Coach Nelson on Recca - "Makana adds good passing and good defense to the team. I can see her having opportunities to step in and earn playing time in those areas. She's got the intensity, fire and has a great temperament on the court."
