2009 SEASON: Appeared in 12 games with one start as a sophomore... finished the season 0-2, 8.76 ERA... struck out nine batters in 12.1 innings... made season debut at theUniversity of Texas - San Antonio, tossing 3.1 innings of relief with on strikeout (2/21)... threw 1.1 innings in first start of the season, striking out on at California (3/4)... struck out two in1.0 inning at Pacific (4/7)... struck out two in 1.0 inning at Stanford (4/27).

2008 SEASON: Started on game and appeared in 26 games as a freshman... finished the season 1-1 with a 7.36 ERA and15 strikeouts... earned first win in 1.2 innings of relief versus Fairleigh Dickinson.

PREP CAREER: Played three years of Varsity baseball at Clayton Valley High School... sophomore year had a 0.653 ERA, earning League Honorable Mention... junior year earned First Team All-League after posting 0.750 ERA... senior year earned MVP League honors as well as Contra Costa Times Baseball Player of the Year with 1.865 ERA.

PERSONAL: Born in April of 1989 in Pittsburg,CA... son of Ken and Cindy Burns... nickname is Burnzy... goal for the season is to gain strength and help the team... chose USF because it's close to home and seemed to be a good fit... thinks the best thing about being a student-athlete is learning time management... likes the diversity in San Francisco... would like to be Greg Moore for a day... the best advice he could give to youngsters is never settle for anything but the best... favorite quote is "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog"... favorite movie is Snatch... favorite book is A Million Little Pieces... favorite musical artist is Queens of the Stone Age... favorite food is Deli Sandwiches...hobbies include snowboarding, wake boarding, and attending concerts... majoring in Communication Studies.
