She came to USF from Estonia where she placed 14th in the 5000M at the 2011 Under-23 European Championships and 27th in the 2010 Under-23 European Cross Country Championships (6K). She enjoyed a great career running for the Green and Gold, and became USF’s first cross-country All-American as an individual in program history. Suur earned a spot in the 2012 NCAA Track and Field West Preliminary Round in the 5000 meters, and broke the USF school record in the 5000m with a time of 16:23.89 at the West Coast Invitational.
Why Suur Chose USF: “I chose USF because I was very impressed with the coaches - Helen Lehman-Winters and Tom Kloos.”
Favorite USF Memories: “Cross country and track and field had always been individual sports for me, but USF gave me a completely new team perspective. After a learning curve, it made me appreciate the sport even more and changed me as a person outside of the athletic field."
The USF Student-Athlete Experience: “Being able to explore your athletic, academic and personal capabilities in a supported environment was special."
Life After USF: After college, Suur got into triathlons and has loved the variety and fun-factor of a multi-sport both as a participant and a volunteer at local and international competitions. Suur moved back to Estonia in 2016, and has been incredibly fortunate to have found a partner and created a community of friends who enjoy an active lifestyle and the outdoors.
