Las Vegas - The UNLV baseball program has announced the transfer of David Seccombe from the University of San Francisco. Seccombe, a right-handed sophomore from Las Vegas, pitched and played infield for the Dons last season.

"We are very excited that David has decided to come home to UNLV and expect him to make an impact on our pitching staff this year," said UNLV head coach Jim Schlossnagle. "As I have said before, it is important to me that the very best players in Las Vegas choose UNLV."

Seccombe compiled a 3-4 record in 2001 with a 4.63 ERA. He pitched 44.2 innings with 36 strikeouts and 20 walks. He has an 86-90 mph fastball and a solid curve between 81-83 mph. He also hit .240 (20-for-83) with a double and nine RBIs last season.

While playing for Cimmaron Memorial High School in Las Vegas, Seccombe earned three varsity letters. He turned in an outstanding senior season with a 7-1 record on the mound and a 0.80 ERA, while posting a .420 batting average. He was also voted the Southern Nevada Player of the Year in 2000. Seccombe is eligible to begin play this coming season (ULVAthletics).
