After USF: Thomas Caulfield graduated with a Bachelors in Business and Marketing. He joined the Saint Mary's baseball coaching staff in 2023 after concluding his playing career with the Spire City Ghost Hounds of the MLB-Partner Atlantic League. Before that he played two seasons in the Pioneer League in 2021 and 2022 and played a in a “bubble” set up during the 2020 season for the Joliet Slammers in the Frontier League. Caulfield's first professional season came in 2019 which included a stint in the Bay Area’s own Pacific Association with the San Rafael franchise (StMarysAthletics). In 2025, he became the Assistant Head Coach for the Toronto Blue Jays. 

CHICAGO STATE: He earned a scholarship to Chicago State University where he played one season before transferring to the University of San Francisco to finish his collegiate career in the WCC in 2018.

SKYLINE COLLEGE: Played one season at Skyline College before transferring to Chicago State. He was a starting pitcher for two years at Skyline College in San Bruno to begin his collegiate career, leading his team in starts as a freshman. Caulfield was a team captain as a sophomore and made appearances as a starter and a reliever, helping his team to a regional playoff appearance in 2015. 
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Played four years for Shawn Scott at Burlingame High School...earned Second-Team All Peninsula Athletic League honors in 2012...won the Peninsula Athletic League in 2012. In 2013 he was the PAL Pitcher of the Year, First-Team All San Mateo County, and All-State Honorable Mention. Played on year with Cougars...went 4-10 in the 2016 season in 15 starts...earned a team best 78 strikeouts...earned First-Team Western Athletic Conference All-Academic.

PERSONAL: Born on Dec. 30, 1994...parents are Phil and Liz Caulfield...has six siblings; Shannon, Phillip, Patrick, Katie, Candance and Christine...both brothers played baseball, Phillip played for LMU (2016-17) and was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 32nd round in 2017...Patrick played baseball at Santa Barbara City College, at UCLA and University of Nevada-Reno, and played professionally in 2022....cousin Mike Altman was on the USA Olympic Crew team in 2008.
