Biography: Confer transferred to USF from the University of Washington. He fought through injuries, and competing at the WCC championships after overcoming pneumonia and struggling with a hip injury.

Why Confer Chose USF: "I chose USF because they offered me an opportunity to continue my athletic career after numerous injuries at the University of Washington. The coaches believed in me to not only perform, but to lead, and that is the legacy I hope to leave. USF opened doors academically for me and I cherish every moment."

Favorite USF Memories: "My experience was different from others at USF. I transferred in from the University of Washington. The cross country and track teams provided a unique experience in a smaller school environment. The team was close-knit and worked extremely hard. I cherish the memories built on long bus rides to Ross for long runs and suffering through workouts at Kezar Stadium."

The USF Student-Athlete Experience: "The best thing about being a student athlete is uniting as a team with a common purpose, to win. The daily suffering and pain with the end goal in mind of performing at the highest level. Having a team to bring each other up is unlike any other."

Life After USF: Post USF Confer has now taken up cycling, and is a Cat 2 cyclist excelling in criterium races. He has worked for Abbott Laboratories for the last few years in various roles increasing in responsibility. Confer is now an Enterprise Account Manager for the major health systems along the West Coast. He just got married in Vail, CO.
